Medicated Food
Give the fish a day off food to build appetite
Gut fill of medicated food
It's important that all the fish get a full belly of the food. Throwing in a quarter pound of food to a pond chock full of thirty inch fish is ridiculous. The fish should eat medicated food once or twice per day until full.
Spot feeding
For best results, you could attract the fish to the side of the pond and throw them small amounts of food being careful to get the food directly to the fish which needs it.
- Medicated meal 2x daily
- Can have separate feedings of other foods as long as there's a "gut fill" of medicated food that day already.
- Can top dress any medicated food with Mann's Bait Attractant.
- Full koi are hard to kill
- Eating is a good sign
- Freeze Dried Krill
Milled in versus Top dressed medicated food
- Top dressed (coated) foods usually fail to work because the medications float away before the fish will eat them. The flavor is not disguised.
Tetracycline versus quinolones discussed in the book.
